ELECTRIC INFRA RED CONVEYOR OVEN

When British Gypsum first approached Caltherm for a drying solution, the agreed way forward was a small-scale pilot plant on the British Gypsum East Leake site.  After working closely with the customer on engineering an electric infrared pilot plant, medium wave infrared proved to be the most efficient solution for drying water-based paint on gypsum ceiling tiles.

Caltherm then received an order to design, build, deliver and commission four dryers, two on each production line.  The specification is:

• Non-contact infrared temperature measurement for control of lamp temperature based on product temperature.

• High volume supply air driven over the lamps using the convected heat for additional drying and high efficiency.

• High volume supply air cools the conveyor and the tile from below.

• Extract to atmosphere removing moisture and creating a negative pressure-drying chamber with no leakage to the factory.
