VACUUM DRYER WITH ROLLER FLATBED CONVEYOR

Howmet is  world leader in the investment casting of super alloys and titanium primarily for jet aircraft and industrial gas turbine engine components.

After aqueous cleaning the parts need to be completely water-free before non-destructive testing.  The castings often have deep holes and crevices, making them difficult to dry.  Traditionally, castings have been dried with re-circulating air.  This gave long drying times and high energy consumption.

A new production line for their factory in Exeter, UK, gave Howmet the opportunity to improve many areas of their production process, including drying,  Caltherm offered a vacuum dryer with a 'one button to press' operation.  A vacuum dryer has the benefit of reducing drying temperature and energy consumption, whilst pulling the moisture from complex and deep cavities in the product.
