FIRE-PROOF GLASS MANUFACTURING  AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT OVENS

C.G.I-Warrington have, since their very origins as a venture capital-funded company, purchased their processing ovens from Caltherm.

For initial trials, they hired a box oven from Caltherm, which led to the provision ofr a bespoke pilot oven operating at up to 200°C +/-3°C.

This pilot oven has a 'letter-box' type inlet, allowing a single sheet of glass to be produced and tested.  The pilot oven is fully programmable for controlled ramping to and from temperature set-points.  This pilot oven is still in use for product development and testing.

From their experience with the pilot oven, C.G.I were able to specify the production oven requirements, i.e.  

• +/-3°C temperature control throughout oven compartment

• controlled cooling

• 'process complete' indication

• link to PC for data recording

Illustrated are three ovens from Caltherm in full production. They are gas fired, with a unique air distribution venturi system matching the trolleys, giving the temperature required.

C.G.I. now have a total of seven process ovens, two tunnel preheat ovens and one pilot plant oven - all supplied by Caltherm
