THERE
IS A DECEPTIVE SIMPLICITY
to box ovens, well ovens and
dryers and top-loading ovens - basically just hot boxes for batch
treatment, right? Not when you consider some of the many options
available: stainless steel interior, vacuum or compressed air
capability, recording systems for quality audit and control, forced
cooling, programmable time and temperature controls, viewing port,
internal lighting, integrated mechanical loading/unloading system,
alarms, controlled ventilation, fume extraction, variety of mechanical
or manual door options, 'clean room' hygiene standards, multiple
compartments... See below for a selection of box ovens, well ovens and
top-loading ovens that Caltherm have previously supplied. Click on

| SILICONE CURING WELL OVEN
Goodflex's special area of
expertise is in producing high quality silicone hoses for use in the
food, pharmaceutical and motor industries. Goodflex needed an unusually long oven to cure silicone hoses on to
mandrels. The oven is 400 x 400 x 9000mm long, allowing hoses up to 9m
long to be cured without bending the mandrels. The oven is electric, with
two re-circulating air fans. The lid is in two halves, and
counter-weighted for ease of use |

PLASTIC ANNEALING AND PAINT DRYING
OVENS
Designed for pre-existing product trolleys, these
two electrically heated box ovens for Alps Electric in Ireland
(manufacturers of automotive electrical parts) have combined use,
either;
-
drying
printed plastic parts with extract fan, airflow proving switch and
explosion relief, OR
-
annealing
plastic components with the extract turned off to improve energy
efficiency.

TOP LOADING RESIN CURING OVEN
The Turbo Genset Company
was formed in 1993 to develop a series of high speed motor/generators. As the business expanded, the existing bench mounted box ovens were unable to
cope with increased production levels and continuous use. Caltherm worked with the
customer to find the best production solution. Two of these vertical loading, four compartment ovens were supplied to cure
resin generator armatures. Each oven has:
-
'Flying lead' thermocouple which attaches to product to ensure process
timing starts when product temperature is correct
-
Electrically heated to ensure accurate temperature control over a wide
operating range
-
7-day time clock to ensure ovens are ready for production on shift
start-up.

OVENS IN CLEAN ROOM
CONDITIONS FOR MEDICAL
PRODUCTS
This
highly specialised oven has 12 compartments arranged in back-to-back
rows, allowing operators to flow work in and out of the
ovens at the optimum production rate. Each compartment contains a rotating hanger designed to
hold several of the customers work jigs.
The
oven fans, heat exchanger, filters and controls are located above the working
chamber, outside the clean-room, which is constructed almost entirely in stainless steel.
Designed,
built and tested in our works, including an air particle test, the oven
was inspected working by the customer before delivery. |

WELL DRYER FOR ELECTROPLATED COMPONENTS
This is the second dryer that Caltherm have
supplied to Thomas Gee, a major electroplating firm based in the West
Midlands. The dryer is designed and built around the production line pit,
the final stage on the line for drying the jigged electroplated
components. The product is loaded from above with an overhead
gantry crane loading. |
